Saint-Tropez pendant
Saint Tropez medal in 18K yellow gold with the image of the famous Saint on the obverse, and the city's coat of arms on the reverse.
We find the city's motto: "Ad Usque Fidelis"
This medal tells the story of Torpes, steward of Nero, who became one of the first Christian martyrs by refusing to renounce his Christian faith.
His body was placed in a boat on the Arno with a rooster and a dog. The boat soon ran aground on the banks of a fishing village who built a chapel with the image of the martyr. Torpes will gradually become Saint-Tropez.
Saint-Tropez is the patron saint of sailors. The city celebrates its patron saint with the traditional bravado every year in May.
This medal was initially worn only by native Tropezians.
